You need to apply for this Registration Number with the Quarantine & Inspection Department (QID) of Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) if you intend to import processed food products and food appliances. This particular Registration Number excludes import of primary produce like meat and fish products, fresh fruits and fresh vegetables. Primary produce require different licences. Examples of processed food products including raw spices, raw or semi processed food ingredients, flour, bottled water, liquors, wines, confectioneries, noodles & pasta, beverages, etc. Food appliances are used for containing food. Examples would be plastic bowls and porcelain cups.

To apply for this Registration Number, you must first have a Singapore registered company with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA). You must also register your company's Unique Entity Number (UEN) with the Singapore Customs at https://www.tradexchange.gov.sg. Registration of importers will enhance AVA's ability for tracking and source tracing of processed food and food appliances imports, which is consistent with AVA's current system of control over imports of fresh food produce such as meat, fish and vegetables. Registration of importers also facilitates effective communication and implementation of regulatory measures to ensure food safety. For instance, it will help in fast identification of food importers, enabling swift actions to be taken to prevent unsafe food from entering Singapore.

You are required to declare your Registration Number in the Licence field in TradeNet when applying for import permits.

If trader imports food products using the Unique Entity Number (UEN) 99991000000G, the declaring agent needs to be registered with QID(AVA). The declaring agent should also declare their Registration Number in the Licence field in TradeNet when applying for import permits.
Q I am importing food appliances ie porcelain food wares, pots & pans, do I need to register?
Yes, your company will have to register with QID (AVA) via the same process as described above.
